Warriors lose to Canton-Galva 2-0

Staff writer

Offensive errors plagued the Marion High School volleyball team Tuesday night in Canton as the Warriors saw two early leads fade in closely contested battles.

After Marion took a 6-3 early lead, Canton-Galva chipped away at the Marion lead, tying the game at 6, 8, and 9 points.

Scoring went back-and-forth with the final tie coming at 14 before CGHS took over, going on a 4-0 run to take an 18-14 lead.

Marion kept battling, bringing the score within one at 22-21 on a Julia Hall block, but Marion would not score again, losing 25-21.

In the second game, it would be the Eagles jumping out to an early lead, but they would not lead by more than three at 10-7 before Marion went on a 6-0 run to lead 13-10, blocking spikes and setting Canton into errors.

Canton-Galva would turn around with a 7-0 run of its own, capitalizing on the same problems the team just suffered.

Behind 14-21, the Warriors would make one last push, behind spikes from Hall and Kaelyn Thierolf, bringing the lead within three at 23-20.

That would be as close as it got, as Canton-Galva scored twice more to win 25-20.
