Weekend of music, activities planned
Flint Hills Counterpoint will celebrate its seventh anniversary with a day of music, food, workshops, speakers, kids’ activities, and a film Saturday afternoon and evening at 1660 90th Rd.
Hourly performances from 1 to 8 p.m. will be by Thad Beach, Caleb and Brett Klingenberg, Von Hansen, Jim “Mr. Stinky Feet” Cosgrove, MHM, Alferd Packer Memorial String Band, Jopara Ensemble, and Tim Snider.
A range of styles from jazz and folk to hip-hop, rock, and world music will be represented.
Hourly activities and workshops from 1 to 7 p.m. will focus on such topics as nature drawings, growing mushrooms, recycling, playing music with others, perennial plants, birdhouse painting, and land stewardship.
At 9 p.m., the film “Silphium Plot” will be shown with live music by Switchgrass String Quartet and Rachelle Goter.
Food will be available from Tortas Mary food truck and Clay’s Cones ice cream.
