Welding students place 4th

A team of four Marion High School students placed 4th at the Kansas Welding Institute invitational mig welding contest Friday.

Individually for Marion, Noah Kukuk placed 10th, Devin Soyez placed 15th, and Peyton Ensey placed 18th. Braydin Sippel also competed.

At the contest, team members were required to read and interpret blueprints to correctly place and perform five welds on 3/8” plate and to perform five other welds on ¼” plate. They also took a written test on Mig welding.

The contest was hosted by the North Central Kansas Technical College in Beloit.
