Wife’s destination scares husband off

A husband who followed a Hillsboro woman to Marion quickly sped off when he saw she went to the sheriff’s office.

The woman went to the office Monday afternoon to ask how to get a protection from abuse order or file for divorce, Undersheriff Larry Starkey said.

When her husband saw where she went, he sped past the sheriff’s office and turned west on Main St., where he nearly crashed into other cars. He then drove over railroad tracks on the west edge of town without slowing down.

Deputies did not give chase.

They did ask whether she wanted to file a complaint, but she declined, Starkey said.
