The Marion Middle School B- and C-teams earned home victories Monday against Sterling.
The A-team dropped its game, 39-21.
The Wildcats trailed after every quarter, scoring just two points each in the first and third quarters.
Jacob Harper was in double figures with 14 points.
“Jacob played a nice game on the inside and showed more aggressiveness than he had earlier in the season,” head coach Kelly Robson said.
The loss was the third in a row for the A-team after starting out 5-0.
The Marion B-team (6-2) didn’t allow a point until the second quarter, and cruised to a 39-12 victory.
Zach Robson was in double figures with 12, and big-man Trevor Kinnersley added nine.
“They pretty much had their way in this one,” Robson said. “Although we are still missing too many layups and make a few poor decisions, the play is continuing to improve.”
The C-team (4-1) had to come from behind for its victory after trailing 6-2 heading into the second quarter.
Down one at the half, the Wildcats used a 10-4 fourth quarter to pull ahead.
In the end, MMS won, 28-25.
Eric Regnier was the team’s high-scorer with 11 points.
“They turned up the pressure in the half-court and took the ball away on several occasions,” Robson said. “Regnier and Colton Jeffrey led the defensive effort and Spencer Fugitt played more aggressively than he has in the past to help control the inside play.”
The teams will be in action Thursday with a road game Lindsborg.
