William Davis

William E. Davis, 85, of Marion, died May 24, 2009, at his residence.

Born May 28, 1923, in Keystone, Mo., he was the son of William S. and Ethel M. (McGrew) Davis.

He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps, serving in the European Theatre during WWII. He was an electronics foreman for Bendex.

On Oct. 28, 1946, he married Mary Transue. The couple lived in the Kansas City area, moving to Marion County Lake in 1996.

His parents, a sister, Ethel Davis, and a step-grandson preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of the home; a son, Jim Davis of Marion; two daughters, Mary Blandin of Lubbock, Texas and Jacqueline Cortright of Shawnee; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Holy Family Parish, St. Mark Church, Marion.

A funeral Mass is at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Burial is at 1 p.m. Friday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Shawnee.
