William E. Ubben Jr., 76, died March 28, 2012, at St. Luke Hospital in Marion. He had been a Lincolnville resident the past 20 years.
He was born Nov. 27, 1935, at Marion to William C. and Mable Brown Ubben. He was a 1954 graduate of Marion High School, served in the U.S. Air Force in the 1950s, and was a member of the American Legion.
For many years he lived in Virginia, where he worked for Central Telephone Company. Following his retirement, he retired to the Lincolnville area.
He is survived by a son, William of Chester Gap, Va.; five daughters, Malinda Fisher of Linden, Va., Wanda Oden of Front Royal, Va., Janey Fogle of Chester Gap, Va., Virginia Langford of Middletown, Va., Molly Landrum of Fredricksburg, Va.; a brother, Ronald of North Carolina; 19 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Peggy Kerns; a brother, Donald; and two sisters, Joyce and Jeanette Ubben.
A graveside service was at 11 a.m. Friday at Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Peabody. Memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Post 22 of Marion in care of Zeiner Funeral Home, 205 Elm Box 6, Marion, KS 66861.
