Work begins on Remington Rd.

Work began this week on Remington Rd. between U.S. 56 and 290th Rd. County crews are preparing the road for double chip-sealing.

Double chip-sealing is putting down a layer of oil on a gravel road, spreading fine gravel on top of that, then repeating the process with another layer each of oil and gravel. It binds the road surface together and reduces dust compared to a gravel road, but it isn’t as smooth or sturdy as an asphalt overlay.

County Commissioner Dan Holub said double chip-sealing should begin on June 11, weather permitting. He estimated the project would be done June 19 or 20.
