Work from home

This week’s paper includes a story about Amanda Dameron, who works for a company with customers worldwide from the peace of her home in Marion. She isn’t the only person telecommuting from Marion. That’s a good thing, and we should encourage more of it.

As high-speed Internet becomes more broadly available, the portion of careers that can be done from a home office continues to expand. Some businesses, like retail sales, will probably never be practical for telecommuting, but Marion should be able to attract people who can work from home.

If you have friends or relatives who can telecommute, urge them to set up shop in Marion.
