Your Turn: Elections, baseball and more

Brief comments may be sent to the Marion County Record, PO Box 278, Marion, e-mailed to editor@marionrecord.com, or brought to the office.

I urge you to be an informed voter and ask questions about the candidates. We need leaders who live the examples they speak of and who have the respect of their fellow citizens, family, and friends.

Having attended the candidate forum and read the comments in the newspapers, I am concerned about some of the things candidates have said. We need candidates who are honest and those who will do what they say. We need candidates who treat others with dignity and respect, not yelling and cursing. We need leaders with solid definitions of moral fiber and integrity.

Citizens of Marion County deserve to be treated with respect and told the whole truth all the time. We need proactive leaders. We need leaders who will tell “the whole story” and not skirt the tough issues. We need leaders who are focused on the job at hand and not easily sidetracked by other endeavors and hobbies. We need solid, respectful leaders with high moral standards.

We would be up a creek without a paddle without the county and city employees. Why would you take away their sick pay? They aren’t making great wages anyway.

I think American citizens are being discriminated against. It’s good we have an election coming up. We need someone who understands the problems that are getting worse.

Congratulations CVL All-stars! You did a tremendous job at this week’s regional tournament. Be proud of yourselves. You played with determination, focus, and drive ... not to mention talent and tenacity. Thanks, boys, for giving us a summer of baseball to remember. It was fun and we’ll look forward to watching you in the future.
