Youth leadership opportunity available

Boys completing their sophomore or junior years in high school are eligible to apply for a week long leadership and teamwork program at Kansas State University.

American Legion Boys State of Kansas is accepting applications for its 2024 session, scheduled for June 2 through 8.

Boys State is designed to develop self-identity, promote mutual respect, instill civic responsibility, and inculcate a sense of obligation to community, state, and nation.

The “learning by doing” political exercise simulates elections, political parties, and government at state, county, and local levels, providing opportunities to lead under pressure, showcase character, and work effectively within a team.

Cost is $375, but sponsors typically pay a majority of the fees, with the delegate or his family paying just $50.

Those wishing to attend may visit ksbstate.org to apply. Deadline will be April 30.

Potential sponsors, such as American Legion posts, civic organizations, businesses, clubs, and interested individuals may visit ksbstate.org/sponsor-a-delegate.
