Marion High School junior basketball players Julia Zeiner and Lindsay Hett were named this past week to the Topeka Capital Journal honorable mention 3A state basketball team.
The Topeka-based newspaper named five players around the state to each first, second, and third teams, and 44 to the honorable mention teams.
Zeiner led the Lady Warriors in points per game (16.8) field goals made (144), field goals attempted (279), free throws made (64), and free throws attempted (99).
She also averaged 5.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 2.1 steals per game.
Her points per game were good enough for third in the Mid-Central Activities Association.
Hett was the team leader in steals (3.0) and blocks (0.9) per game.
The guard was second on the team in points with 13.2 per game, and second in field goals made (103) and three-pointers made (22) while averaging 4.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game.
Zeiner is the daughter of Ty Zeiner and Janet Zeiner, both of Marion, and Hett is the daughter of Aaron and Lanell Hett of Marion.
