A deal has been practically closed between Mr. W.H. Wheelock and Mr. Wm. Ross, of McPherson, for the transfer of the Elgin Hotel to the latter. Mr. Ross was the proprietor of the Union Hotel at McPherson. He has not yet taken charge of the Elgin.

The revival services which were in progress at the Methodist church for two weeks closed last Friday evening. The revivalist, Rev. Martin Armstrong made a deep impression on the people by his earnest straightforward appeals. He resorted to none of the sensationalism or questionable methods sometimes employed but simply preached plain, forceful sermons and based his appeals on reason and duty. No one can doubt his sincerity. While the services were not the outward success desired, their effect was deep and must result in much good. Rev. Armstrong made many friends while here who wish him all success in his work. He went from here on Saturday to Abilene, where he officiated at the marriage of his son on Sunday. From there he goes to New Mexico for a short stay.

Mrs. J.N. Rogers gave a delightful five o'clock dinner last Friday evening in honor of Mrs. W.M. Tomlinson. The guests were Mesdames W.M. Tomlinson, W.C. Rudd, W. W. Runyan, H.C. Wharton, Wible, J.D. Saggau, Chas. Thompson, Dal Rogers and C.C. Jones.

No good citizen can defend himself in not voting. And behold no man in Marion voteth who hath not registered. Do it now. You know what. Register.

A steady, heavy rain fell last Sunday night and Monday. It was a great thing for the wheat.

A crowd of young people expect to attend the annual church fair, which is to be held at Pilsen next Monday and Tuesday.

The Ladies' Society of the Presbyterian church met with Mrs. Caughey Wednesday. They had planned for an all day session with Mrs. Tipton, who lives about a mile northwest of town, but on account of the muddy roads that plan was postponed till next Wednesday, when they expect to take their dinner and spend the day.

By special correspondence from Gale and Wilson townships:

Alex H. Ehrlich and Miss Minnie Kasper were united in marriage Thursday evening, Oct. 11th, at 7:30 at the home of the groom in Center Township, the Rev. Sievers of Marion officiating. Only the immediate relatives and a few friends were present. Alex is the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Ehrlich of Gale. He has grown to manhood in our parts, and is a highly respected young man. Miss Minnie is a daughter of Mr. Cornelius Kasper, of Gale, and is an intelligent young lady. She has not lived in our neighborhood much as she has worked a great deal in Marion the past three years for Mrs. W.H. Evans. Both the bride and groom are well liked by all who know them. The bride received many handsome and useful presented. Mr. and Mrs. Ehrlich start housekeeping at his home west of town. May this young couple prosper and be happy is the wish of their many friends.
