Franz Meyncke's place at Tampa was raided last Saturday night by Sheriff Evans and Deputy Mansfield. Two barrels and a half of beer and a lot of "empties" were found on the place, and the "proprietor" was brought to Marion and put under bond, to await the action of the District Court.
The New Courthouse
Awards for the erection of Marion County's new court house were made by the County Commissioners at their special session last week. The general contract for the erection of the building was let to J.B. Betts, of Topeka, at $41,874. Falk & Co., of McPherson secured the contract for putting in the heating and plumbing equipment, on their bid of $2,735. The electric wiring will be done by E.P. Gordon, of Topeka. His bid was $240.
Under the terms of the contract the work on the building is to be begun by April 1, 1906, and to be completed by August 1st, 1907. The building is to be built of native stone, and the trimmings are to be either of Bedford, Ind., stone or Warrensburg, Mo. stone. Upon the latter question a definite decision was not reached by the Commissioners.

Jim Graham has on exhibition on the vacant lot west of the Post Office, a patent tilting gate for which he is the Marion county agent. It looks like a good thing. Take a look at it.
Marion 5, Peabody 0
Marion high school won its first victory in a close game of football on the Marion gridiron last Friday, defeating the Peabody city team by a score of 5 to 0.
The winning score was made in the latter part of the second half when after a complete knock-out by his interference, Marion's right half Scott, made a 65 yard run, which was followed by several line backs and the ball was carried over the line for a touchdown. Vadakin failed to kick goal.
The features of the game were the tackling down by Senix and McKretchen, of Peabody, and Amick, Taylor, Williams and Harrison, of Marion, and the hurdling of line by Harrison. Vadakin played his usual good game as quarter.
Marion's line was invincible, Peabody frequently failed to make their gains.
The game was free from unmanly conduct of any kind. A large crowd of spectators enjoyed the contest.
Referee, 1st half, Harsh, of Peabody; 2nd half, Florer, of Marion.

All bids for the buildings on the block south of the court house, which is to be vacated for the erection of the new court house, were rejected by the Commissioners at their special session last Friday, as all were considered too low. The Bare house is to be used for a storehouse and shop in connection with the building of the new court house. A minimum price was fixed for the purchase of the Geo. D. Scott house and anyone desiring in formation on the subject should see the County Clerk.
The members of the C.K. Caldwell family, who have been sick with typhoid fever, are all reported as improving steadily.
Among the Peabody "rooters" who were here last Friday to see the Marion team show the Peabody boys how the game of football is played, were: Rev. Skovgard, Dave and Hubert Sterling, Dan Harsh, Roy Fike and Don Long.
The gross tax for Marion county for 1905 amounts to $233,920.17. Of this amount, $75,636.77 is the school tax.
