Nowak Construction will begin work Monday on the expansion project at Marion Athletic Park. New baseball diamonds will be constructed and the existing diamond will be improved.

Centre High School homecoming king and queen candidates are David Evancho, Mike Devore, Brandon Gillett, Jeff Kleinschmidt, Amy Brunner, Susie Svoboda, Michelle Haden, and Carrie Kahns. The king and queen will be crowned before Friday's game with Wakefield.

Among the "old settlers" who came "home" for Old Settlers' Day, all former instructors at Marion High School, were coach Ed Frickey and his wife Phyllis, math and biology teacher Jim Wilson and his wife Corrine, band instructor Mick McLeland and his wife Mary Ann, and coaches Floyd Yaussi and Pete Keenan. Those serving as spokemen for their reunion classes were Homer Stiller, class of '32; Lewis Smith, class of '37; Bud Pierce, class of '42; Clyde Hiebert, class of '47; John Newcomer, class of '52; John Price, class of '57; James Robert Meisner, class of '62; Pat Costello, class of '67; and Joe Endres, class of '72.

Terrie Colburn and Shirley Jo Hett recently presented a check for $90 from the 20th Century Club to Gene Winkler. The money is to be used toward buying new jackets for the Marion crew members of the Marion County EMS.

Clover Cliff Ranch will host the Flint Hills Cowboy Jubilee on Sunday, Among those scheduled to participate are Jerry Wright, Wichita; Wilbur Countryman, Cassoday; Bennie Holtsclaw, Cedar Point; Robin Weiss, Cottonwood Falls; and Jim Hoy, Emporia.
