More than $600 was raised for the Marion Ministerial Alliance Thursday at the annual community Thanksgiving dinner. More that 180 attended the meal where they were served turkey, potatoes and gravy, rolls, stuffing, salads, and pie. Most of the attending were families. Meals were delivered to about 25 area residents who were unable to leave their homes.
Marion and Centre high schools are two of 100 schools registered to compete Saturday in the High Q Super Saturday tournament at Washburn University, Topeka. Students from Marion High School scheduled to participate are Lesley Sieger, senior; Hannah Bennett, Elly Barta-Moran, and LeAnn Hiebert, juniors; and David Rowe, sophomore. Their coach is Doug Vogel. Students to participate from Centre are Russell Mueller, Diane Rziha, Sara Vinduska, and Angie Vinduska, seniors; and Anneliese Ebaben, junior. The squad is coached by Cynthia Beall.
Members of the 1993 Marion County Extension Council executive board are Irma Koop, Sherri Groening, Bev Knust, Judy Christensen, Stan Penner, Leonard Frantz, Darlene Schmidt, Gwen Gaines, and Jim Christensen.
Linda Ogden has joined Prairie View as a child and adolescent community case manager. Ogden previously served as a paraprofessional for Marion County Gifted Education.
Professor Dennis Navrat, chairman of the art department at the University of South Dakota, has original artworks now on display in a show at Chicago, Ill. His mixed media and handmade paperworks, relating to the Black Hills area, are on display at Patti Gilford Fine Arts, Chicago. Navrat is a native of Marion, the son of Mrs. Edward Navrat, and a graduate of Marion High School.
