Rebecca (Bridges) Wingfield was the winner of a $100 gift certificate in the Marion Chamber of Commerce retail promotions contest this year. Other winners include Steffanie Smith of Marion, $75 certificate, and Marlene Schwind, Hillsboro, $50 certificate.
Heather Christine Allen and Jerry Alan Vinduska, both of Wichita, exchanged wedding vows Nov. 14 in St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Pilsen. Parents of the couple are John and Mary Ann Allen, Topeka, and Eugene and Verna Vinduska, Marion.
George Helmer was honored Saturday when a surprise birthday dinner was planned and successfully carried out at Kingfisher's Inn in honor of his 80th birthday, which was that day.

Erna Mae Yeagley of Marion was honored Monday by the American Red Cross for donating 157 pints of blood, nearly 20 gallons, the most of any Marion County donor.
