Acclaimed television newsman Larry Hatteberg will be the speaker Jan. 25 for the Marion Chamber of Commerce annual membership banquet. Hatteberg has won numerous state and national awards for photo-journalism.
Mr. and Mrs. Leo Scharenberg of Cedar Point will be honored at a reception Jan. 10 in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary. An open house will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. at the senior center in Florence.
The Board of Education of Marion Unified School District will host a reception Jan. 10 for longtime staff member Eugene Enos, who is retiring after more than 27 years of service to the district.
Bart Spachek, Lincolnville, and Tana Hedstrom, Lost Springs, were initiated into Phi Kappa Phi honor society chapter at Kansas State University earlier this month. Spachek is majoring in marketing. Hedstrom majored in elementary education and family life and human development.
John and Rosanne Jordan of Marion are the parents of a son, Patrick Aaron, born Dec. 22 at St. Luke Hospital. He weighed 7 pounds 9 1/2 ounces and was 20.8 inches in length.
Christopher Hett, son of Rocky and Shirley Jo Hett of Marion, has been elected president of the Kansas Eta chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon social fraternity. He is a graduate of Marion High School and a sophomore in pre-law at Wichita State University. He is employed at the law firm of Martin, Pringle, Oliver, Wallace, and Swartz in Wichita.
