Marion County Commissioner Lucille Britain, 58, died Dec. 27 at St. Joseph Medical Center, Wichita, where she had been a patient since suffering a heart attack Dec. 18 in downtown Marion.

Brothers Greg and Mitch Carlson of Marion have purchased Dave's IGA store at 1116 East Main. The sons of Gary and Shirley Carlson of Marion, the brothers are well known locally. They took over sole ownership Monday of what is now known as Carlsons' Grocery.

This has been a dry year. During 1991, the Marion area received almost 11 inches less precipitation than an average year, leaving Marion Reservoir with record-low lake levels and inflow amounts.

St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church was the setting Oct. 26, 1991, for the wedding rites of Jessica M. Tajchman and John L. Laurin. Father Paul Oborny officiated at the 3 p.m. double ring ceremony.

Charles D. and Catherine DeForest of Florence are the parents of a daughter, Jaclyn Elizabeth, born Dec. 26 at HCA Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.

Mr. and Mrs. Albert Ollenberger will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Jan. 11 with an informal family dinner at Kingfisher's Inn. The couple's son Brice has presented his parents with airline tickets to Palm Springs, Calif., where they will further celebrate at Brice's home.

Hillsboro policeman Bryon McCarty proved he is a good investigator when he identified all "bogus" advertisements in the Marion County Record classified column during December. McCarty received a $50 gift certificate as his reward for identification.

Keith Riffel, formerly of Ramona, has received an advancement to the position of group manager of Plant IV at Beech Aircraft in Wichita. Riffel joined Beech in 1956. His mother, Wanda Riffel, resides in Ramona.
