Students at Marion Elementary School took a walk back through time Friday as they participated in activities honoring the 132nd birthday of Kansas. After lunch, demonstrations were given by Kevin and Debbie Hiebert of Goessel and Margie Bennett of Marion to show the students some of the basic skills that were needed to survive in the days when Kansas was only a vast prairie.
A minor baby boom has hit Tampa. Darren Christopher Mueller was born Friday to Ronald and Kaylene Mueller and Charles Joseph Stuchlik was born to Chris and Melissa Stuchlik.
The 24-Karat Customer Service team at Marion Manor has recognized eight employees for proper uniform during the months of December and January. They are Tammy Bush, JoAnn Svoboda, Kelly Lord, Jody May, Donna Kukuk, Charles Smithhart, Rusty Love, and Cathy Holub.
Candidates for Centre High School homecoming king are James Jirak, Russ Mueller, Mark Smith, and David Evancho. Queen candidates are Marilyn Svoboda, Susie Svoboda, Carrie Kahns, and Michelle Haden. Ceremonies will follow the junior varsity games Friday evening.
Phyllis Melton will be the speaker at the meeting of Unit II of St. Luke Hospital Thursday morning. Melton's topic will be "Pie Tops." She has been collecting pie top designs for many years and has a collection of three to four hundred different ones.
Marion County Emergency Medical Services is seeking donations to help purchase a hydraulic ram. Cost of the ram is $1,730.
