The annual Marion City Women's Bowling Association handicap tournament concluded this week at MarBowl Lanes. The team category was won by the Pizza Hut team. Members of the team consisted of Fern Friesen, Earlene Petty, Liz Pearson, Jackie Hett, and Linda Brewer. First place in the doubles event went to Sandy Clemmer and Jane Kreutziger. Singles winner was Earlene Petty and all events honors went to Sandy Clemmer.

Winners of the Marion Elementary School spelling bee were Josh Powers and Andi Shipman. They will join winners from other Marion County schools, including Florence Middle School student Neil Thakker and Ross Groening, at the county spelling bee later this month.

Harold and Gwen Bohm of Cheney announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Gretchen, to Michael Bina, son of Laverne and Harriet Bina of rural Marion. The couple plans to be married July 31 at the Cheney United Methodist Church.

Centre High School 1993 Homecoming winners are James Jirak and Susie Svoboda. They were crowned before the basketball games Friday against Bennington.

The work of three art students at Marion High School is on display at the Wichita Art Museum. They are Mariah Jantz, Charlie Helmer, and Sherry Lange. All are students of Jim Versch.
