Pledges to make Marion County Courthouse fully accessible topped $5,000, commissioners learned at the regular weekly meeting. The single largest pledge was $1,000 from Tri-County Telephone. About 55 groups or individuals have made contributions so far.

Members of the Marion High School entomology team took first place Feb. 27 at the South Central District FFA contest. Individually, Matt Kukuk placed second; Rod Steele, third; and Jason Kruse, seventh.

Marion County Sheriff's Deputy Randal Brazil has graduated from the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center, Hutchinson. Brazil completed the course with high marks, earning a 91 percent in the academic section, said Sheriff Edward Davies.

The Saylor brothers, Mark, Ed, and Steven, at Topeka were featured in a Capitol-Journal news article recently, telling how all have followed in their father's footsteps to become physicians. They are the sons of Dr. Les Saylor, who in turn, was the son of former Marion County health doctor J.H. Saylor, who lived in Ramona and Marion.

Amanda Janzen, a senior at Marion High School, has been invited to play March 27 in the all-star girls' basketball classic at Muir Gymnasium, Kansas Wesleyan University, Salina. Amanda is the daughter of Phoebe and Steve Janzen.
