Pledges to help pay for making the Marion County Courthouse fully accessible to the disabled topped $6,000 Monday, commissioners reported.
Stockholders of Marion Country Club met March 4 to elect directors and transact routine business. Directors elected to three-year terms are Harlow Warneke, Jim Darrow, and Larry Loomis. Elora Robinson was elected to complete the unexpired term of Marc Williamson.
Five students from Centre High School are attending Close-Up Kansas this week in Topeka. Russ Mueller, Ramie Bina, Danelle Hanschu, Jennea Falen, and Meggan Silhan are participating.
According to an announcement Thursday evening at the annual Girl Scout box supper, almost 2,000 boxes of Girl Scout cookies were sold during the recent sales campaign. Regina Martinez sold the most cookies, 235 boxes, followed by Steffanie Smith with 224. Seven mystery prizes were awarded. Winners were Sarah Crofoot, Regina Martinez, Erin O'Dell, Nicole Rogers, Heather Tajchman, Audra Waner, and Camille Wessel.
Two Marion High School basketball players were named to the Cottonwood Valley League all-league team. Amanda Janzen, a 6-0 senior was named to the girls' second team. Scott Dalrymple, 6-2 senior, was named to the second team all-league for the boys.
