A bit of Marion County will be seen on the Oregon Trail this spring. Donahue Corporation, Durham, is supplying a stock trailer for the trek through Nebraska, and possibly the rest of the way. A wagon train will follow the original trail from Independence, Mo., to Oregon, a trek of approximately 2,000 miles. The wagon train was organized to recognize the 150th anniversary of the trail.
Laverne and Harriet Bina were surprised April 25 at a party in honor of their 30th wedding anniversary. Hosted by Doug and Michele Regnier, Adam and Randy, guests enjoyed ice cream cake and other desserts throughout the afternoon.
Eileen Sieger, Marion, has been elected president of the Flint Hills Girl Scout Council for the 1993-94 year.
Five Marion County students served as pages for 70th District Rep. Duane Goossen April 29. The students, Brandon Hanschu, Ryan Bina, Jared Magathan, Wendy Rudolph, and Nikki Bina, spent the day in Topeka and met Gov. Joan Finney.
Julie Sellers of Florence, a sophomore in modern language studies at Kansas State University, is one of three students headed for the Dominican Republic. The KSU International Community Service Program is sending three other students to Paraguay, and four to Mexico. Students spend 10 weeks on community service projects.
