Wheat fields in Marion County have been muddy, but this year's harvest has been looking good, according to reports Tuesday from grain elevators in Marion and Florence.
The Kansas Highway Patrol has announced a new law which takes effect July 1 and prohibits people under 14 from riding in or on portions of vehicles not designed for passengers.

According to Chris Sprowls, Marion Athletic Association officer, Marion's community baseball field will benefit this summer from several improvements, in part due to donation of materials and time by volunteers. Martin-Marietta Aggregates of Marion donated 50 tons of rock, which city crews collected and spread along the driveway and parking area of the original ball field. The ball park recently has expanded by six acres to include the new Longhofer Ball Field. Two new diamonds could be in use by next year.
