The addition to St. Luke Living Center is nearing completion. It is anticipated that furniture for the expansion will arrive Friday and that residents will be moving into the new rooms by next week. The 14-room expansion is fully booked.

Erna Mae Yeagley thinks people must be getting tired of hearing about it, but the American Red Cross is proud she has donated 20 gallons of blood in her lifetime.

Betty Sanders was surprised by a group of friends July 7 at a luncheon at Olde Towne restaurant in Hillsboro in celebration of her birthday. Guests were Judy Prior, Pat Waner, Jean Miesse, Virginia Heerey, Donna Fruechting, Margaret Pickering, Peg O'Connor, Marg Sandberg, Charla Wheeler, and Mary Jeffrey.

Marion High School gymnasium was the scene July 8-10 for the annual summer basketball camp for youth ages seven to 18. Bob Chipman, Washburn University's head basketball coach, was head coach for the camp. Guest helpers were Steve Woodbury, Kansas University; Anthony Beane, Kansas State University; Shelly Foster and Laura Houston, Washburn University. All helpers are players for their university basketball teams.

A book-signing for "Touring Marion County," is planned for July 26 at the Marion City Library. Author Robert Collins will be in the library offering autographs for his work, which describes various sites, restaurants, and accommodations within the county.
