High-quality country music reverberated through Central Park and downtown Marion Saturday evening when Penn Central took the stage. A highlight for many in the audience was when 1987 Marion High School graduate and steel-guitar player David Meisinger, son of Marvin and Maggie Meisinger of Marion, sang lead.
The state Babe Ruth baseball tournament for 13-year-olds will be held in Marion July 23-27.

USA Today has identified Marion Reservoir as one of the popular clothing-optional swimming areas in the United States. But rangers who patrol the area say the report is total fiction and are upset that a family-oriented reservoir has been identified as a nude pleasure site. "I hope this [report] dies an early death," ranger Terry Holt said.

Rex Walters, University of Kansas basketball player, was in Marion Thursday through Saturday participating in the annual Marion Basketball Camp. Walters coached the fundamentals of basketball, along with other college coaches and players including Kansas State University's Askia Jones.
