Marion County Commissioners gave their approval Monday to plats of a housing addition at the Marion County Lake. Brad Wildin presented the plat for the Wildin Addition, which has lots for 26 homes.

Laurie Tajchman, a sophomore at Emporia State University, has been accepted into SPURS. The daughter of Paul and Mary Jane Tajchman, Marion, she is majoring in business administration.

An open house will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Valley United Methodist Church in celebration of the 60th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Wolf.

The annual Marion Country Club championship was held Saturday and Sunday. Aaron Hett won a one-hole play-off with Bryan Hess to win the championship. Hett and Hess finished the tournament with scores of 158.

Dr. John Russell, a native of Marion, has been promoted to the position of director of the Washington, D.C., Technical Support Office of the Center for Nuclear Waste Regulatory Analyses. He is the son of Faye Russell of Marion and the late Lysle Russell.

The "Last Man Club" of the Marion High school Class of 1927 met at the Stone City Café Sept. 12 for a reunion luncheon. Those in attendance were Margaret Richardson Wolf and her husband Gordon, Winifred Nelson Conyers, and Katherine Mohn Vogel, all of Marion; Evelyn Ehrlich Schimpf, Wichita; Esther Rempel McCaklin, Ottawa; Edna Rempel McGhay, Topeka; Eugene Wilcox and wife Sally, Winfield; Ruby Garrison Haislip and husband Alva, Aurora, Mo.; Bela Pracht Jacobs, Emporia; and Fred Pracht and wife Ola, Cedar Point.
