KAKE-TV's Mike Iuen and Todd Johnson will be guest speakers Jan. 24 at the annual Marion Chamber of Commerce dinner. Mike is the morning anchor of KAKE's "Good Morning Kansas" show and Todd is the morning weather anchor of the same program.
Four people have applied for the vacant Marion Unified School District board of education seat. Candidates are Glen Hett, Bill Higgins, Dan Holub, and Kay Tajchman.
Byron and Janell Brewer of Wichita are the parents of the first baby born in St. Luke Hospital in 1994. Their daughter, and their first child, Leslie Ann Brewer was born at 9:10 a.m. Jan. 7.
Stephanie Burkholder of Marion has been named to the Dean's Honor Roll for the 1993 fall semester at the University of Kansas Medical Center. She is a student in the Occupational Therapy Education Department.
Governor Joan Finney has appointed Roger W. "Bud" Hannaford of Marion to the Abstractors' Board of Examiners. Hannaford will serve a term to expire June 30, 1996.
Candidates for the Centre 1994 winter homecoming queen and king are Angela Kaiser, Toni Nernechek, Linnea Meek and David Zinn, Matt Clymer, and Travis Rindt.
The Marion High School Class of 1956 is planning a December cruise to the Bahamas. Al Konarik, Oklahoma City, Okla., businessman, said the class discussed a cruise during a reunion on Old Settler's Day.
Gerald Wiens, an award-winning photographer, will present a multi-media program about "The Arkansas River" at Hesston College's Kropf Center at 2 p.m. Jan. 20.
The Ernest Holub family spotted a white fox on their property on the Sunday after New Year's Day. She was around for several days before she was captured in a live animal trap and turned over to Kansas Wildlife authorities. Due to its tame qualities, the Wildlife authorities are wondering if it didn't belong to a breeder and are investigating the possibility.
