Tracy Hett has continued in his grandfather's footsteps, creating beautiful artistic items related to Kansas by using copper and brass. Hett began working for his grandfather, Ern Hett, at "The Copper Shed" shortly after graduating from high school in 1984. Tracy's shop, "Trace of Copper," is located at the north edge of Marion on U.S.-56 near Eisenhower Drive.
Six Marion High School students will give a piano recital at 7 p.m. Thursday in the high school music room. Elly Barta-Moran, Katrina Hancock, LeAnn Hiebert, Pam Kruse, Tammy Winter, and Lisa Zogelman will perform at the free recital.
Jerry Cady, Marion agent for National Farmers Union Insurance, has purchased the Enid Jost all-risk crop insurance agency in Marion. The agency now offers farmowners, homeowners, life, health, auto, business, and crop and hail policies.
Cub Scout Pack 106 participated in the shavings and chips achievement program to earn cards and to learn the safe way to handle knives. Boys participating were Dustin Suffield, Anthony Clegg, Joseph Forsberg, Travis Burns, Grant and Justin Garrard, Eric Peterson, Josh and Dusty Caldwell.
Placing in the Marion Elementary School Reading is Fundamental poster contest were Kristy Hess, first place; Kylie Hardey, second; Caitlin O'Dell, third; and Iva Eddy, honorable mention.
A group of Centre Junior High School students placed second among fifth graders, and fifth in the state, in a Quiz Bowl contest. Chuck Bina, Tyler Zinn, and Jordan Krause formed the team.
