A few dollars per week have paid off for Dan and Pat Kinning of Marion, who won $170,862 Saturday playing Kansas Cash Lotto.
First District Rep. Pat Roberts will tour St. Luke Hospital and Living Center Feb. 21. Roberts will visit the facility to gain more information about rural hospitals, how they survive, and how they can best be served by upcoming changes in health care.
Jerry Engler has been hired to prepare plantings in Central Park. He will plant hardy and colorful plants to bloom most of the year. He also intends to plant ground cover around the site of the original spring. Cost is $100 per month. Engler is also working with Marion Chamber of Commerce to plant, and care for, the wooden barrels along Main Street.
Receiving I ratings at regional piano competition Saturday were Marion High School students Pam Kruse, Elly Barta-Moran, and LeAnn Hiebert. The students will compete in state piano competition Feb. 19 at Wichita State University.
Emmanuel Baptist Church will dedicate the newly remodeled auditorium to the Lord at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. The public is invited.
Births announced in this week's issue include a daughter, Katherine Anne, born Jan. 25 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, to Larry and Sharon (Anderson) Self of Wichita; a daughter, Adelle Xandria, born Jan. 28 at St. Francis Regional Medical Center, Wichita, to Dr. and Mrs. Paul Loney of Wichita; and a daughter, Alexandra, born Feb. 3 to James and Denise (Westerhaus) Hutcherson of Arlington, Texas.
