Marion County Commission reviewed a preliminary application, Monday, for a grant which could pay up to $75,000 for a new roof on the historic courthouse.
Elizabeth Anderson, Peabody Junior High School student, will represent Marion County in the state spelling bee. She won the county spelling bee Feb. 9, held at Marion Elementary School.
The following students from Marion have been named to the fall semester honor rolls at the University of Kansas: Kristy Lynn Herbel, daughter of Ron and Ruth Herbel; Sheri Lee Plenert, daughter of Karen Ehrlich; Ashley Renee Loomis, daughter of Larry and Randee Loomis; Jennifer Kaye Thole, daughter of Jon and Suzanne Thole; Stephanie Nicole Burkholder, daughter of Larry Burkholder and Carol Burkholder; and Micah Kane Hanson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Craig Hanson.
In what is a fairly new happening for most couples, Mr. and Mrs. Reinhardt Steinle will observe their 75th wedding anniversary this month. The Steinles were married Feb. 23, 1919, at the Lutheran church in Tampa.
Ellen Darrow and Betty Mull spent the weekend in Wichita. Jim and Kaye Darrow joined them on Sunday and they attended the Canadian Brass Concert at Century II Concert Hall.
Members of the Tressie Ford family recently posed for a five generation picture. The youngest member, Tyler, is the son of Brenda Jaso of Newton, who is the daughter of Marilyn Klassen of Lehigh, daughter of Ruby Linnens of Marion.
