The engagement of Diann Marie Stuchlik of Wichita and Thomas Scott Ensz of Fort Hancock, Texas, is announced this week by their parents, Alex and Jean Stuchlik of Lost Springs and J.B. and Lou Ensz of Newton.

Rachel Janzen, daughter of Steve and Phoebe Janzen, has been inducted in the Phi Theta Kappa, an international community college honor society.

Jesse and Rita Brunner returned Feb. 11 from a week's trip to Italy in celebration of their 25th wedding anniversary. Cities visited included Venice, Florence, Pisa, and Rome. They went to Mass at St. Peter's Basilica and saw Pope John Paul II.

Merle Flaming announced this week that Flaming Plumbing and Heating is purchasing the former Marion Creamery building, located on the southwest corner of First and Main.

Marion High School wrestler Dustin Delaney advanced to the state wrestling tournament Friday at Fort Hays State University. He finished in second place at regionals.

Tim Kerbs, April and Molly successfully surprised Marchelle Kerbs Sunday afternoon with a party at the Friendship Center in Salina in celebration of her 40th birthday. Guests shared a birthday cake and other refreshments. Among the many relatives and friends attending were Doug and Connie Thompson, Allison and Taylor of Abilene, Kenneth and Pat Pierce of Augusta, Lucille Kerbs, and Julie Kerbs, Ashton and Rustyn.

Marion High School forensics team took second place Saturday at the Berean Academy tournament, bringing home 15 medals. Members of the team are Kristen Warnick, Irene Robles, Heather Holub, Jennifer Savage, Courtney Goering, Leah Arnhold, Shonna Wyman, James Meier, Natali Toupin, Eliza Bennett, Hallie Bennett, Mandy Hanson, Katie Barta-Moran, Chris Bowers, Gabrielle Longhofer, Josh Powers, Joe Smallwood, and Kyle Ramsey.
