The movie "Stolen Women" which will be shown on KWCH-TV (channel 12) Sunday will have broad appeal to prairie people living in the tall grass region of Marion and Butler counties. The film is based on a true story which took place on the Great Plains Territory in the late 1850s and was filmed in different locations in the area.
Marion High School's varsity Scholars' Bowl team dominated the CVL meet Feb.27 at Council Grove, posting a perfect 5-0 record to win the championship. Team members are Nathan Collett, Chris Bowers, Eliza Bennett, Mandalee Meisner, Damion Schinnerer, Tisha Warner, Joey Smallwood, and Bailey Skiles.
Greg and Mitch Carlson have been busy this week moving their Carlsons' Grocery across the street o newer and larger quarters in the former Town and Country Market building.
Marion City Library received a $5,000 grant from the Library Service Construction Act, based in part on a poetry reading, the library board of trustees heard at their March 5 meeting. The library wants to put its card catalog on computer, with two computer access stations, so patrons can find the books they want quickly, and the library can have a more accurate picture of who has a book, and whether it is overdue.
A program to help parents of newborns and toddlers was approved Monday by Marion Unified School District board of education, pending approval of a state grant. Parents as Teachers provides services to parents of children from birth through age three.
Ray and Eleanor Davidson will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception at the Florence Senior Center Sunday, March 23.
Marion Elementary School first graders in Crys Commerford's class spent March 5 visiting the Rob Hett farm southwest of Marion. They spent the day playing with and observing animals. The students also visited Willard and Don Hett's sheep farm.
