Local rancher Dan Holub was appointed Monday to fill the unexpired term of the late Roland Parli on the Marion Unified School District Board of Education.
Mark Heidebrecht, DDS, has sold his Marion practice to Timothy Woods, DDS, of Hillsboro, effective Saturday. Heidebrecht will join the practice of L.S. Latimer, DDS, in El Dorado.
Marion High School Scholars' Bowl team posted a 3-3 record Saturday in regional competition. Catherine Blount was leading scorer with 130 points, followed by David Rowe with 110. Others scoring were Kadon Hodson, Suzanne Blount, and Nathan Collett. The junior varsity squad of Chris Bowers, Courtney Goering, Nathan Collett and Nick Kraus posted a 5-1 record for place in their division.
A statewide tornado drill is set for Thursday afternoon. Sirens will sound. Individuals and businesses are urged to review safety plans to prepare themselves for an actual emergency.
Marion Elementary School second graders, teachers and parents visited Twin Feathers Emu Ranch during a recent study of Australia. Students spent the afternoon learning about the birds, petting them, and collecting feathers. Owners of Twin Feathers Emu Ranch are Larry Bina and Gail and Marissa Makovec.
Marion Lions Club will host a car show and swap meet May 6 in Marion's Central Park.
