Mayor Gerry Harris announced Friday that a Pizza Hut will be constructed just north of U.S.-56 within Marion city limits. Harris also announced he will move his car rental business and used car dealership to the highway location.
Workers with J-D Construction, Wichita, are removing 80-year-old tiles from the roof of St. John Nepomucene Church in Pilsen and are making necessary repairs to the wood beneath them.
Marion High School band members attended the Cottonwood Valley League instrumental clinic March 14 at Chase County High School. Selected for the all-league honor band were Chris Hanson, Jodi Smith, Brian Loomis, Katrina Hancock, Allison Ford, Jenny Groening, Pam Kruse, Elly Barta-Moran, Beki Zook, Bonnie Hokanson, LeAnn Hiebert, Jason Goodin, Karla Jensen, Renee Gooding, Chris Bowers, and Lisa Zogelman.
Centre High School basketball player Jason Hajek was named to the top five all-area basketball team by the Salina Journal. He was named to the top 11 football team by the newspaper earlier this year.
William and Betty Meier of Hillsboro, who were married March 25, 1944, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary April 10 with an open house at the First Baptist Church in Durham.
Jeffrey and Kelly Henry and toddler son, Oliver, will be moving to Marion in June. Dr. Henry is a family practice physician who will be in practice at St. Luke Medical Clinic. The family enjoys water sports. They will move to Marion from Wichita.
