A two-story house in Lincolnville, across from the American Legion building on First Street, was destroyed March 22 by a raging fire. The fire was started in the upstairs of the home by two children who were playing with a cigarette lighter. Scott and Michelle True, along with their four children, purchased the house Jan. 21 from Lester and Barbara Kaiser.
Luta Creek Photography, owned by Judy Powers, is officially open for business in Marion. The studio is located in the Powers home at 115 Elm.
On St. Patrick's Day, 26 students at Centre High School and 19 adults left on a six-day bus tour to Washington, D.C., and New York City. This is the second year a tour of New York has been included in the Washington, D.C., trip.
Leo E. Waner, son of George and Patricia Waner of Marion, has been appointed Monroe vice president of finance at Tenneco Inc. in Illinois. Waner, his wife Juliette, and children Rachel, Alex and Nicole will relocate to the Monroe area in the near future.
Kevin Marler, son of Doug and Janet Marler of Marion is student of the month at Marion High School.
Nathan Smith, Shelter Insurance agent in Pittsburg, has been honored as one of the company's top producers in life insurance sales. Smith has been with the firm since 1981 and has qualified for company awards conferences in five years since 1984.
The Rev. Gerald Pathe was honored Tuesday at a special Mass. Pathe, former pastor of St. Mark Church in Marion, was one of 10 priests celebrating anniversaries this year. Pathe celebrated his 50th anniversary of becoming a priest.
