Marion police officers are now cruising in a new 1994 Ford Crown Victoria. It features reflective graphics on both sides which make the car highly visible.
A new mammography unit at St. Luke Hospital will serve the hospital well into the next century, officials said. And it will serve as a memorial to cancer patients, since it is funded in part by St. Luke Foundation. It became operational March 30.
Marion High School varsity boys' basketball team scored 1,147 points this season, compared to 1,403 by opponents. Leading scorer was Brad Druse with 221 points, averaging 10.5 points per game. Other members of the team are Brian Loomis, Hassian Brown, Aaron Reiswig, Brendan Kraus, Chuck Maggard, Matt Holub, Corey Darrow, Kevin Marler, and Tony Gilbert.
Paula Barta of Marion is participating in an exhibition of woven works at the National Teachers Hall of Fame, Emporia State University. She is one of 16 artists participating in the exhibition.
Rita Stuchlik and Linnea Meek, seniors at Centre High School, and Adam Kleiber and Jana Renee Schroeder, seniors at Hillsboro, have been nominated for the Tandy Technology Scholars program. Stuchlik and Kleiber were nominated for outstanding math, science and computer science knowledge and Schroeder and Meek were nominated as the top two percent in academics.
Janet Post entertained March 25 at the monthly birthday celebration at the Marion Senior Center. The celebration honored the birthdays of Ruth Dohner and Sailor Koon.
