Exchange students from Germany visited Central Park as well as many other popular attractions in Marion and Kansas. The group of 15 departed for Berlin Saturday, but many are anxious to return soon, that's why they said "auf wiedersehen" instead of "goodbye." They hope the exchange program will become two-way, bringing Marion students to visit families in Germany.

Biking Across Kansas has released the routes and overnight stops for the 1,000 expected to ride June 11 to 18. Marion will be the fifth overnight stop on the "Admirable Route," which goes from near Syracuse on the western border of the state to LaCygne. The northern route begins at Tribune and the southern at Johnson City.

The 90th birthday of Norma Hannaford was celebrated from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at a party at the Marion Country Club hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Roger Hannaford, Wanda Burk of Denver, Colo., and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Exline of Salina. The them centered around "The Roaring Twenties" era, as were some of the guests.

The Florence Women's Christian Temperance Union has awarded prizes in the junior high essay contest to three students from Marion. First prize went to Ryan Zambo, second to Nick Kraus, and third to Reggie Conyers.

The following MHS students have qualified for the Kansas State Forensics Tournament to be held May 7 at Wichita North High School: Elly Barta-Moran, Mark Engler, Gabrielle Longhofer, Jodi Smith, Jon Moffitt, Katrina Hancock, Monica Parscal, Matt Powers, Josh Wildin, Denise Domme, Jodi Thomas, and Gabe Higgins.
