Spears Construction, Haysville, will renovate the former Florence High School industrial arts building for use as middle school classroom. Board members voted unanimously for the Florence Historical Society proposal in a special meeting Thursday.
Alisha Vogel was guest of honor April 16 at a party hosted by her parents, Randy and Carol Vogel, at their home north of Marion. The party was in celebration of her seventh birthday. Guests were Chelsi Carlson, Samantha Hett, Robyn Kukuk, Michelle Miesse, Molly Rhodes, Amber Richmond, Misti Richmond, and Briana Vogel.
Mr. and Mrs. Donald J. Buethe of Lincolnville observed their 45th wedding anniversary Easter Sunday, April 3. The couple celebrated with their family by having dinner at the Amarillo Grill in Wichita. On April 9, a barbecue dinner and party was held in the Lincolnville 4-H building. It was attended by family and friends.
Winners of the Marathon Bridge Bash held Monday at September Apartments were Mary and Ed Costello, first place, and Pat Jackson and Peggy Blackman, second. First prize was said to be a down stream cruise on the Cottonwood River from Marion. It included air fare. Ports of call are Oursler, Florence, Cedar Point, Cottonwood Falls, and Saffordville.
Jim and Norma Horinek now offer a service out of their home in Pilsen, a service that hasn't been available. They are doing shoe and boot repair, and are making leather products. They offer their service to the public.
