Leigh Ann Hiebert was named valedictorian of the Marion High School Class of 1994 Sunday during commencement services. Hannah Bennett was named salutatorian.
A sand volleyball tournament will again be part of Marion Summerfest '94. The eight-team, double-elimination tournament will be June 11 at the sand volleyball court in Central Park. Each team must have two men and two women.
Piano students of Julie Nelson will present a piano recital Sunday at the Florence United Methodist Church. Students participating are Lisa, Sara and Krista Zogelman, Emily and Kevin Costello, Margie, Becky and Nicole Taylor, Shannon Hoffer, Erin O'Dell, Shawna Hett, Carrie Darrow and Sarah Crofoot.
Matt Holub was selected as student of the month by the Marion High School faculty. He is the son of Allan and Dorothy Richmond and Pat and Linda Holub, all of Marion. Matt currently works at Marion Manufacturing and plans to attend Kansas State University to major in either mechanical or electrical engineering.
Neo Century Club members met May 2 at Clover Cliff Ranch Bed and Breakfast for the last meeting of the 1993-94 year. Spouses joined them for a meal of charbroiled steak and the trimmings. Following the meal, the group heard the history of the ranch and enjoyed a tour of the house.
Births announced this week included Alexandra Brianne, daughter of Alan and Melissa Kruse of Marion on May 18, and Emily Del, daughter of David and Cindy Henning of Wichita born May 22.
