Breakfast will be available to all students attending Marion Unified School District schools this year. A nine-week pilot breakfast program at Marion Elementary School was held at the end of this past school year. The pilot program was successful, with no problems.
Julie Sellers of Florence, a senior at Kansas State University, has returned after spending May 28 to July 31 in the Dominican Republic in the university's community service program.
Michel W. Soyez, 18, an outstanding graduate of Marion High School, has received the Edith and Harry Darby Memorial Scholarship to attend Garden City Community College this fall. He will major in GCCC's award-winning Criminal Justice Program.
Thirty-eight students were enrolled in Daily Vacation Bible School at St. John's Lutheran Church, Lincolnville. Staff of the school included Jeana Albrecht, B.J. Beneke, Kim Czarnowsky, Kim Harms, Ashley Howard, Jannell Jirak, Denise Klein, Kenna Krause, Tabea Loveless, Dawn Luna, Kelly Montgomery, Marsha Pagenkopf, Sheri Stahlecker, and Pastor Alan Stahlecker.
Beki Zook of Florence and Pamela Kruse of Marion, students at Marion High School, were selected to participate in the annual Kansas Masonic all-state high school band which played Aug. 3-7 at Wichita State University.
Orley Friesen, Dean Batt, and Jan Isham have their works on display this month at the Butler County Community College service center in downtown Marion. The works include photographs, portraits, and painted icons used in Orthodox churches.
