Members of the 1994 Marion County Leadership Class held their graduation banquet Monday night at Olde Towne Restaurant in Hillsboro. Class members were Mike Meisinger, Central National Bank Marion County; Kem Chisolm, Hillsboro Industries; Arlen Goertzen, city of Goessel; Troy Leith, Marion County Implement; Jeannine Bateman, Marion County treasurer; Jo Helmer, Prairie View; Ronald Mueller, farmer/rancher; Teresa Boeken, Salem Hospital; Debra Ewert, Emprise Bank; and Arlen Gfeller, building designer.

Dan Crumrine is pictured showing off a 19" cucumber he grew in his garden at the Marion County Lake and is the winner of this week's Marion County Record Produce Derby.

Jennifer Thole, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jon Thole of Marion, has been selected by the Big 8 Conference as a Service Bureau intern. Thole is working on a graduate degree in sports administration at the University of Kansas.

Traci Helmer, bride-elect of Steve Waner, was guest of honor at a miscellaneous shower given Aug. 21 at the home of Marge Summervill of rural Marion. Vickie Kraus was the assisting hostess.

Reuben and Eleanor Zerger will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Sept. 4 in the fellowship hall of Marion Presbyterian Church.

Jeff Goering of Marion mastered the golf game over the weekend, making a witnessed "hole in one" on the course at Marion Country Club. His "ace" was on the 165-yard No. 9. Witnesses included Tod Gordon, Larry Hague, Chris Costello, Steve Moore, Gene Winkler, Mike O'Dell, John Harbison, Doug Dick, Rod Hamm, Steve Voth, and Jerry Higgins.

Herb and Clara Bredemeier of Marion were involved in a two-vehicle accident at 10:49 a.m. Friday at McPherson. She was seriously injured, having 12 broken ribs and other injuries. The Bredemeiers were taken to McPherson Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released. She was taken by Life Watch to Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.
