Construction continues of a 10,000 square foot addition at Marion Manufacturing. The addition will double the building's size to accommodate roll-form machines used to make tin siding and roofing.

Jason Goodin, a junior at Marion High School, spent two weeks in August on a church mission trip to

Gatchina, Russia, which is 20 miles south of St. Petersburg. Jason went with his grandfather, Floyd Bosch of Clay Center and three other Americans from the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod.

Three of the speakers at the Kansas Authors Club annual writing conference set for Oct. 1-2 at Salina are familiar in Marion County. They are Katie Funk Wiebe of Wichita, formerly of Hillsboro, Jane Vajnar of Tampa, who writes for the Marion County Record and other area newspapers, and Dr. Jim Hoy of Emporia State University and syndicated columnist.

The "Last Member Club" of the MHS graduating class of 1927 met Sept. 10 for dinner at the Stone City Café. Those present from out of town were Eugene and Sally Wilcox, Winfield; Edna Rempel Macklin, Topeka; Esther Rempel McGhay, Ottawa, Fred and Ola Pracht, Cedar Point; attending from Marion were Winifred Nelson Conyers, Katherine Mohn Vogel, Florence Blankley Thompson, and Gordon and Margaret Richardson Wolf.

Janet Post of Burns will be featured at 10:45 a.m. Thursday from the Farm Bureau Arena at Kansas State Fair in Hutchinson. Post is an accomplished vocalist and guitar player who will present a program of ballads and solos with a western theme.
