The Cowboy Jubilee at Clover Cliff Ranch on U.S.-50 near Elmdale attracted more than 350 people Sunday afternoon. They came from all across Kansas to enjoy the hospitality of Jim and Joan Donahue, owners of the historic ranch.

Helen Reznicek, a business teacher at Marion High School, attended the annual state convention of Kansas Business Teachers Association Friday at the Marriott Hotel in Wichita.

Three Marion boys received recognition from Sunflower Chapter, American Red Cross, when they were presented certificates. The honored young men are Kevin Weigart and Daniel and Matthew Bryant. The honor was in recognition of quick thinking to administer CPR in an attempt to save the life of Glen Matthews on Nov. 8, 1992.

The Elmdale Bank will close Dec. 31. The former People's Exchange Bank opened in 1891 with the initial capital of $5,000.

Marion High School debaters have been having a busy season. Most recent debates have been with Goddard and Wichita South high schools. Those who have participated this year are Denise Domme, Matt Helmer, Gabe Higgins, Jon Moffitt, Monica Parscal, Jodi Thomas, and Ruth Ann Unruh.

Births announced in this week's issue include a daughter Chloe Alyse born Sept. 28 to Steve and Lisa Wistube of Derby; a son Derek Michael born Oct. 8 to Gary and Jo Ann Stuchlik of Valley Center; and a son Scott Henry born Oct. 10 to Pam and Mark Jones of Marion.
