Central Kansas Conservancy has taken possession of the railroad line between McPherson and Marion, effective Sept. 26. This means the former rail line has been rail-banked. CKC plans to develop the right of way into a hiking, cycling, and riding facility known as Sunflower Trail.
Spectators at Lincolnville's Octoberfest Saturday were treated to a rare sight, as a color guard from Fort Riley in colonial uniforms led the parade. The four infantrymen made a striking appearance with their 13-star Old Glory and shouldering black powder muskets.

Al's Café of Lost Springs will soon have a new home. The new building is going up west of the present site. Al's Café specializes in Mexican food.
Eric Albrecht of Marion was guest of honor recently at a dinner in Berlin, Germany, sponsored by Mayor Wolfgang Krueger of Tempelhof. Eric has been in Berlin since August as part of the CPYE youth exchange program. The son of Kym Smith of Marion, he will return to Marion at the end of January.
