Milo harvest is under with thousands of bushels flowing into grain elevators where test weights are between 50-60 pounds per bushel, with similar weights for soybeans. Yields generally start around 70 bushels per acre for milo and 30-35 for soybeans.

A car caravan tour of the Santa Fe Trail in Marion County is planned for Sunday. The tour is sponsored by the Cottonwood Crossing Chapter of the Santa Fe Trail Association.

Births announced in this issue include a son, Cody Wayne, born to Rob and Tina Delk of rural Marion; a daughter, Lauren Marie, born to Chuck and Lori McLinden of Marion; and a daughter, Danae Elizabeth, born to Ray and Denice Bina.

Bill Razor hosted a dinner party at Kingfisher's Inn Oct. 1 in celebration of the birthday of twins, Sue McDermeit of Winter Haven, Fla., and Ken Lundgren of Marion.

Marion Elementary School music teacher Anita Hancock will perform in concert Nov. 12 as part of the Wichita Chamber Chorale.

While Mark Harms of Lincolnville has been recuperating from pneumonia at a hospital in Manhattan, friends, relatives and neighbors converged on his farm Monday and Tuesday to combine milo and do other chores. Mark's wife, Kim, is the daughter of Don and Peggy Buethe of Lincolnville.

The fall championship motocross races will be held Oct. 29 at Green Acres MX Park, located at the north end of Walnut Street in Marion.

Terri Helmer, bride-elect of Jeff Bina, was honored Oct. 15 with a bridal shower at the country home of Marge Summervill. Vickie Kraus was co-hostess.
