Greeted by an enthusiastic throng of well-wisher, Topeka attorney Carla Stovall officially announced her campaign for attorney general Monday in Marion, her "home town."

Jay Christensen of Marion has been appointed postmaster for Cedar Point. He started duties there Oct. 16, succeeding Bonnie Wealand who has served as postmaster there for several years. Christensen is the son of Gene and Marge Christensen of Marion.

Marion and Florence youngsters have especially enjoyed the soccer program provided this year by Marion-Florence REC. Several volunteers help with coaching and referee duties and Christian Pederson of Denmark has given valuable guidance to young Americans who were previously not familiar with the game which is so popular throughout most of the world.

Nine-year-old Ashlee Moore, daughter of Pat and Jandee Moore of Marion, is pictured with a giant stuffed Halloween pumpkin which she won from Marion Health Mart.

Marion Elementary School students Damion Schinnerer, Travis Moore, Chevon Beisel, Emily Costello, Mandalee Meisner, and Camille Wessel will sing Saturday in the Elementary Choir Fall Festival in the Andover High School gym. Students from throughout central Kansas will participate.

Master Sergeant Terri Lehman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Robinson of Florence, was recommended for the second oak leaf cluster on the Meritorious Service Medal. As non-commissioned officer in charge of records, she managed more the 1,200 senior records with 100 percent accuracy.
