Leland and Kay Heidebrecht, owners of Quality Food Market, this week announced a "going out of business sale." The store was established 40 years ago when Al Heidebrecht and Dan Pankratz purchased the former Kroger store which was also located in the Masonic Building on the northeast corner of Main and Fourth.
Gloria Freeland De Champi of Burns has received a master of science degree from Kansas State University, Manhattan.
FHA members from Marion and Centre high schools attended a leadership training conference Oct. 29-31 at Little Rock, Ark. Attending from Centre were Terry Roehrman, Jenny Branson, Susie Rziha, Melissa Mille, J.D. Barrett, and Mandy Ryff. Those from Marion were Caren Wildin, Catherine Blount, Suzanne Blount, Laura Cupps, Kay Leah May, Stacie Hasenbank, Heather Koop, and Natalie Thies.
Justin Hett, a sixth grader at Marion Elementary School, is one of 12 statewide winners in a safety contest. Theme was "Why It's Important to Wear a Helmet." About 1,700 students participated.
Eileen Sieger of Marion, president of Flint Hills Girl Scout Council, was among delegates to attend the 46th national convention of Girl Scouts of the USA, held Oct. 22-25 in Minneapolis, Minn.
Marion High School volleyball team member Jodi Thomas has been named to the Cottonwood Valley League all-league team.
The Rev. Dennis Fulton filled the pulpit at the Youngtown church Sunday morning. He is a flying missionary to Haiti with his wife and three sons. They are on furlough at this time.
