Farmers and ranchers are reminded to mark their calendars for the annual Marion Chamber of Commerce sponsored farm-city feed. It will be held Thursday with serving to begin at 6 p.m. in the basement of Marion Municipal Building.
Jubilant Centre High School football players cheered Friday as their coach But Peterson held aloft the trophy they won at sub-state. The Cougars defeated Crest High School at Colony to advance to the Eight-Man Division I championship game which will be Saturday at Salina Central High School stadium.
"Legends of Christmas" is this year's theme for the annual Marion Chamber of Commerce Christmas Decorations Committee's home decoration contest. Two sets of prizes will be awarded. One for in-town and another for those living outside the city limits, including both lakes.
"Pure as the Driven Snow," a melodrama will be presented Saturday by Marion High School students. Lead parts will be played by Leah Arnhold, Adam Thomas, and Josh Powers. Other members of the cast are Oliver Good, Starla Riggs, Shannon Hoffer, Lisa Buchholz, Steven Janzen, Jess Whiteman, Meredith Moore, Ashley DeForest, Erin Slattery, and Melissa Moffett.
Susan Peters, news anchor for KAKE-TV, Wichita, has been selected to preside at the lighting ceremony of the historic Chase County Courthouse at Cottonwood Falls.
Eleven members of 20th Century Club and their guests drove to Smolan Nov. 9 and met at the Hickory Tree restaurant. The group enjoyed a barbecue luncheon served buffet-style followed by a guided tour of the former school building.
Marion High School junior Carrie Darrow has been selected as student of the month by the Marion High School faculty. She is the daughter of Bill and Debbi Darrow of Marion.
